The Assistant role is responsible for answering phones, coordinating internal and external meetings and conference calls, drafting correspondence, proofing documents and completing expense reports. This position will manage, organize and leverage time effectively for key members of the Analytic and Content Team through effective administrative intervention and calendar and telephone management. RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manage general administrative, clerical and project-based tasks including:
    • Providing a professional telephone presence;
    • Managing Outlook Calendar and contact items;
    • Coordinating conference calls and in-person and on-line meetings;
    • Booking conference rooms company-wide;
    • Administering Fed-Ex, faxes, mail and interoffice correspondence;
  • Schedule all aspects of travel, with travel agent and independently;
  • Manage travel & entertainment expense reporting;
  • Arrange on-site and off-site meetings where needed;
  • Professionally interact with shareholders, board members, consultants, vendors, and senior management;

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • 3+ years’ experience supporting executive(s) required;
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint required;
  • Must be accurate typist with a minimum of 60-65 WPM;
  • Professional standards, good judgment, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with sensitive information;

The Chief Broadcast Engineer is responsible for the leadership and management of all day-to-day technical and business operations of one of the ION Station Group stations. This hands-on individual will manage and maintain all broadcast equipment and systems used in the daily operation of the station as well as any ancillary systems used in the support and troubleshooting of technical issues as they arise. The Chief Broadcast Engineer will also work closely with the Station Engineer/Technician in developing an understanding of the administrative needs of the station should the need arise for coverage.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manage and maintain all broadcast equipment/systems responsible for daily on-air operation of the station. Use of RF engineering knowledge to maintain and repair all technical equipment in studio and transmitter facilities, satellite downlink/uplink, and microwave transmission systems;
  • Manage and maintain all ancillary systems responsible for supporting the on-air operation, such as HVAC, networking, electrical, and mechanical;
  • Exercise knowledge of FCC rules and regulations to protect the entity’s license;
  • Proactively engage with necessary third parties to resolve technical issues in an expedited manner as they arise;
  • Carry out troubleshooting as needed or escalate to Engineering Support for further diagnosis;
  • Implement new engineering projects as directed by RDE, Quality Assurance, or Engineering Support. Manage project(s) and report status to Regional Director of Engineering as needed;
  • 24/7 on-call availability to ensure continuous operation of the station;
  • May be responsible for certain administrative duties related to business and operation transactions;

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Electronic) or a related field and/or a minimum of five (5) years of experience in broadcast station operations or engineering; Bachelor’s degree is preferred;
  • Broadcast Engineering Certification, i.e. FCC license, Society of Broadcast Engineer (SBE) certification would be a plus;
  • High proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office suite;
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • Strong time management skills in meeting deadlines while maintaining attention to detail;

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree and at least two (2) years of experience in broadcast station operations, engineering or related industry;
  • Comfort and willingness to learn, implement, and operate new technology related to broadcasting and content delivery;

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Oversee Network Operations engineering and monitoring

  • 8+ years of managerial experience, to include performance management, career management and employee relations; solid experience overseeing (indirect reporting relationships) teams consisting of 20+ regular full-time staff
  • Understanding of video system flows, encoding, digital storage systems, automation systems, graphic systems, editing systems, signal flows, video and audio test equipment, technical specifications for video and audio in SDI, HD and ASI; media management and satellite transmission and distribution
  • Knowledge of television production, editing, engineering, satellite transmission and distribution systems required
  • Solid ability to balance production needs with operational capabilities, and to provide solutions that address and balance both wherever applicable

The highly-rated and fully-programmed 24/7 “ION Television” entertainment network reaches 100 million households nationwide primarily in the areas of broadcast through its ION Television Station Group, as well as cable, satellite and telecommunications.  ION’s Station Group is comprised of 57 stations with 24 in the Top 25 DMA’s.

The Station Engineer is responsible for the leadership and management of all day-to-day technical and business operations of the ION Station Group.  We are searching for a qualified, detail-oriented, and dynamic technical professional to ensure that ION has a high quality, consistent transmission in each DMA and a distribution platform that conforms or exceeds FCC and company requirements. This hands-on individual will have the day to day responsibilities in monitoring, controlling and reporting the operability of the station’s master control and transmitter operations as well as have the opportunity to work closely with the Chief Engineer in the operation of studio, transmitter, and distribution delivery.

The Station Engineer is responsible for working together with the Chief Broadcast Engineer on the day-to-day technical and business operations of an ION Station.  This hands-on individual will have the day to day responsibilities for monitoring, controlling and reporting the operability of the station’s master control and transmitter operations as well as have the opportunity to work closely with the Chief Broadcast Engineer in the maintenance of the studio, transmitter, and distribution delivery equipment

 RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Monitor, control and report to TOC the operability of station’s master control and transmitter operations
  • Monitor and report station outages
  • Work together with Chief Engineer in daily operation of studio, transmitter, and distribution delivery
  • Troubleshoot television transmitter and facility issues with Chief Engineer
  • Maintain systems responsible for supporting the on-air operation, such as HVAC, networking, electrical, and mechanical.
  • Assist Legal and Station Administration in the maintenance of the station Public File in accordance with FCC requirements. Track and confirm FCC online station files.
  • Liaison for all cable, DBS, and Telco operators within market.
  • Operate, log and maintain EAS tests and equipment.
  • Proactively engage with necessary third parties to resolve technical issues in an expedited manner as they arise.
  • Carry out troubleshooting as needed or escalate to Engineering Support for further diagnosis.
  • Must be able to cover master control during designated times as well as special programming events.
  • Collect payments for Long Form infomercial
  • They collect payments are NOT booked by one of the national big ad agencies. They then forward payment/checks to AR
  • Assist with facility leasing consideration.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures including corporate guidelines and best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Electronic) or a related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in broadcast station operations or engineering.
  • Knowledge and ability to re-establish connectivity with transmitter
  • Comfort and willingness to learn, implement, and operate new technology related to broadcasting and content delivery
  • Strong proficiency with computers to include Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
  • Specific understanding of television operations, connectivity, video switching, IP networking, including equipment
  • Ability and willingness to travel to transmitter sites and travel throughout the region on an as needed basis.
  • Must be able to drive a 4-wheel drive truck to and from the ION facility
  • A strong understanding, via additional course work, of applicable electrical, computer networking, mechanical, structural and civil engineering methods is desired.
  • Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE), Cincinnati Institute of Technology (CIE) or equivalent certification a plus.
  • Knowledge of FCC broadcasting rules preferred
  • Knowledge of basic technical understanding of traffic workflow system preferred
