The Systems Administrator, Servers & Software is responsible for working closely with peers and third-party vendors to ensure effective system and service operations.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Participates in system planning, design and implementation;
  • Performs system problem resolution and assists in the development of documentation;
  • Monitor system performance and make recommendations for improvement

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience;
  • 5+ years of experience as a systems administrator with enterprise technologies, including, but not limited to, DNS, SSL, IIS, Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, System Center;
  • 3+ years of Citrix experience, including design, implementation and administration;
  • MCSA or higher certification a plus;
  • Citrix certification a plus

The Support Engineer I is responsible for providing first level installation, maintenance and troubleshooting support of broadcast specific hardware and applications. This hands-on individual will have the day-to-day responsibilities for monitoring and responding to hardware and software problems utilizing a variety of hardware and software testing tools and techniques.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Monitor and respond to hardware and software problems utilizing a variety of hardware and software testing tools and techniques;
  • Provide support services over the phone, email and other remote assistance;
  • Upgrades and/or maintain broadcast related equipment at all ION stations;
  • Assist with the rollout of new or replacement equipment where necessary;

  • Assist Station Monitoring in first-level support troubleshooting technical issues in the field;

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • An associate’s degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training or work experience;

The Broadcast Project Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day support and integration of technology at all broadcast stations of ION Media, nationwide.  We are searching for a focused, detail-oriented and dynamic technical professional to ensure that ION has a high quality, consistent transmission in each DMA and a distribution platform that conforms or exceeds FCC and company requirements. This hands-on position has a very heavy emphasis on project management and requires a complete understanding of the technical operation of a television station. The position will work with a team and have the opportunity to manage field staff in execution of relocation of broadcast facilities, station acquisitions and technology upgrades. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Experienced broadcast engineer and manager skilled in transmission systems design and broadcast facility construction;
  • Proficient with propagation software used to create signal mapping and interference studies;
  • Execute electrical and mechanical calculations such as electrical loads and distribution, power factors, heat loads, transmitter TPO and ERP;
  • Antenna system design and FCC knowledge would be a plus;

The Station Technician is responsible for assisting the Chief Broadcast Engineer with the day-to-day technical and business operations of an ION Station. This hands-on individual will have the day to day responsibilities for monitoring, controlling and reporting the operability of the station’s master control and transmitter operations as well as have the opportunity to work closely with the Chief Broadcast Engineer in the maintenance of the studio, transmitter, and distribution delivery equipment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Monitor, control and report to the operability of station’s master control and transmitter operations;
  • Monitor and report station outages;
  • Work together with Chief Broadcast Engineer in daily operation of studio, transmitter, and distribution delivery;
  • Develop the skills and knowledge to troubleshoot television transmitter and facility issues with Chief Broadcast Engineer;
  • Develop the skills and knowledge to maintain systems responsible for supporting the on-air operation, such as HVAC, networking, electrical, and mechanical;
  • Assist legal and corporate in the maintenance of the station public file in accordance with FCC requirements; Track and confirm FCC online station files;
  • At the direction of the Chief Broadcast Engineer:
    • Liaison for all cable, DBS, and Telco operators within market;
    • Operate, log and maintain EAS tests and equipment;
    • Proactively engage with necessary third parties to resolve technical issues in an expedited manner as they arise;
    • Carry out troubleshooting as needed or escalate to engineering support for further diagnosis; 
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures including corporate guidelines and best practices;
  • May be responsible for certain administrative duties related to business and operation transactions;
  • Additional coursework and in-house training is required to advance to a Station Engineer;
  • Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree and at least two (2) years of experience in broadcast station operations, engineering or related industry;
  • Comfort and willingness to learn, implement, and operate new technology related to broadcasting and content delivery;
  • Strong proficiency with computers to include Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines;
  • Must be physically able to bend, lift and carry up to a maximum of 35lbs., as well as climb on step-stools, ladders and other necessary equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to transmitter sites and travel throughout the region on an as needed basis;
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record;
  • Some understanding, via additional course work, of applicable electrical, computer networking, mechanical, structural and civil engineering methods is desired;

RESPONSIBILITIES:

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • 10+ years of television operations management experience
  • 8+ years of managerial experience, to include performance management, career management and employee relations; solid experience overseeing (indirect reporting relationships) teams consisting of 20+ regular full-time staff
  • Understanding of video system flows, encoding, digital storage systems, automation systems, graphic systems, editing systems, signal flows, video and audio test equipment, technical specifications for video and audio in SDI, HD and ASI; media management and satellite transmission and distribution
  • Knowledge of television production, editing, engineering, satellite transmission and distribution systems required
  • Solid ability to balance production needs with operational capabilities, and to provide solutions that address and balance both wherever applicable
  • Solid experience with process improvement and identifying and leading operational changes for a TV network’s broadcast operations and production facilities
