The Manager, Content Acquisitions Diligence is responsible for being an integral member of the Content Acquisitions team and is responsible for providing quantitative diligence and analytical support in the acquisition of program content.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Leverage a suite of content analytic tools and datasets to conduct quantitative analysis, extracting insights and trends;
  • Transform data-driven insights into quantitative presentations that summarize analysis to guide stakeholder’s decision making;
  • Apply your proficiency in quantitative analysis, data mining, and visualization to see beyond the data in identifying and quantifying high-impact opportunities;
  • Support content management in formulating analytical frameworks, metrics and dashboards to assist content acquisition decisions;
  • Research, and manage Content Market Pipeline, including exhibition & sales history; 
  • Provide creative screening of all potential content acquisitions, such as serialization studies and other creative attributes which could affect audience taste

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics or other relevant field that demonstrates quantitative orientation;
  • 4+ years’ of relevant experience; prior experience at a studio, television or digital media helpful but not required;
  • Strong communication skills and proven track record of providing succinct presentation and delivering actionable insights based on analysis and data;
  • Must combine a strong creative interest in content with mindset for a data-driven culture;
  • Exceptional proficiency with MS Excel & PowerPoint; working knowledge of statistics and analysis packages

The Station Technician is responsible for assisting the Chief Broadcast Engineer with the day-to-day technical and business operations of an ION Station. This hands-on individual will have the day to day responsibilities for monitoring, controlling and reporting the operability of the station’s master control and transmitter operations as well as have the opportunity to work closely with the Chief Broadcast Engineer in the maintenance of the studio, transmitter, and distribution delivery equipment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Monitor, control and report to the operability of station’s master control and transmitter operations;
  • Monitor and report station outages;
  • Work together with Chief Broadcast Engineer in daily operation of studio, transmitter, and distribution delivery;
  • Develop the skills and knowledge to troubleshoot television transmitter and facility issues with Chief Broadcast Engineer;
  • Develop the skills and knowledge to maintain systems responsible for supporting the on-air operation, such as HVAC, networking, electrical, and mechanical.
  • Assist legal and corporate in the maintenance of the station public file in accordance with FCC requirements; Track and confirm FCC online station files;
  • At the direction of the Chief Broadcast Engineer:
    • Liaise for all cable, DBS, and Telco operators within market;
    • Operate, log and maintain EAS tests and equipment;
    • Proactively engage with necessary third parties to resolve technical issues in an expedited manner as they arise;
    • Carry out troubleshooting as needed or escalate to engineering support for further diagnosis; 
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures including corporate guidelines and best practices;
  • May be responsible for certain administrative duties related to business and operation transactions;
  • Additional coursework and in-house training is required to advance to a Station Engineer; 
  • Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Minimum of an associate’s degree and at least two (2) years of experience in broadcast station operations, engineering or related industry;
  • Comfort and willingness to learn, implement, and operate new technology related to broadcasting and content delivery;
  • Strong proficiency with computers to include Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines;
  • Must be physically able to bend, lift and carry up to a maximum of 35 lbs., as well as climb on step-stools, ladders and other necessary equipment;
  • Ability and willingness to travel to transmitter sites and travel throughout the region on an as needed basis;
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record;
  • Some understanding, via additional course work, of applicable electrical, computer networking, mechanical, structural and civil engineering methods is desired;
  • Specific understanding of television operations, connectivity, video switching, IP networking would be a plus;

The Chief Broadcast Engineer is responsible for the leadership and management of all day-to-day technical and business operations of one of the ION Media Station Group location. This hands-on individual will manage and maintain all broadcast equipment and systems used in the daily operation of the station as well as any ancillary systems used in the support and troubleshooting of technical issues as they arise.  The Chief Broadcast Engineer will also work closely with the Station Engineer/Technician in developing an understanding of the administrative needs of the station should the need arise for coverage. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manage and maintain all broadcast equipment/systems responsible for daily on-air operation of the station; Use of RF engineering knowledge to maintain and repair all technical equipment in studio and transmitter facilities, satellite downlink/uplink, and microwave transmission systems;
  • Manage and maintain all ancillary systems responsible for supporting the on-air operation, such as HVAC, networking, electrical, and mechanical;
  • Exercise knowledge of FCC rules and regulations to protect the entity’s license;
  • Proactively engage with necessary third parties to resolve technical issues in an expedited manner as they arise;
  • Carry-out troubleshooting as needed or escalate to Engineering Support for further diagnosis;
  • Implement new engineering projects as directed by RDE, Quality Assurance, or Engineering Support. Manage project(s) and report status to Regional Director of Engineering as needed;

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Electronic) or a related field and/or a minimum of five (5) years of experience in broadcast station operations or engineering; Bachelor’s degree is preferred;
  • Broadcast Engineering Certification, i.e. FCC license, Society of Broadcast Engineer (SBE) certification would be a plus;
  • High proficiency with computers to include Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • Strong time management skills in meeting deadlines while maintaining attention to detail;

The Station Engineer is responsible for working together with the Chief Broadcast Engineer on the day-to-day technical and business operations of an ION Station. This hands-on individual will have the day to day responsibilities for monitoring, controlling and reporting the operability of the station’s central cast rack and transmitter operations as well as have the opportunity to work closely with the Chief Broadcast Engineer in the maintenance of the studio, transmitter, satellite uplink, and distribution delivery equipment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Monitor, control and report to the operability of station’s central cast rack and transmitter operations;
  • Monitor and report station outages;
  • Work together with Chief Broadcast Engineer in daily operation of studio, transmitter, and distribution delivery;
  • Troubleshoot television transmitter and facility issues with Chief Broadcast Engineer;
  • Maintain systems responsible for supporting the on-air operation, such as HVAC, networking, electrical, and mechanical;
  • Partner with legal and corporate in the maintenance of the station public file in accordance with FCC requirements; Track and confirm FCC online station files;
  • At the direction of the Chief Broadcast Engineer:
    • Liaise for all cable, DBS, and Telco operators within market;
    • Operate, log and maintain EAS tests and equipment;
    • Assist in maintenance of satellite uplink facility;
    • Proactively engage with necessary third parties to resolve technical issues in an expedited manner as they arise;
    • Carry out troubleshooting as needed or escalate to engineering support for further diagnosis;  
  • May be responsible for certain administrative duties related to business and operation transactions;
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures including corporate guidelines and best practices;
  • Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Electronic) or a related field and/or a minimum of three (3) years of experience in broadcast engineering;  Bachelor’s degree is preferred;
  • Comfort and willingness to learn, implement, and operate new technology related to broadcasting and content delivery;
  • Strong proficiency with computers to include Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines;
  • Must be physically able to bend, lift and carry up to a maximum of 35 lbs., as well as climb on step-stools, ladders and other necessary equipment;
  • Ability and willingness to travel to transmitter sites and travel throughout the region on an as needed basis;
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record;
  • A strong understanding, via additional course work, of applicable electrical, computer networking, mechanical, structural and civil engineering methods is desired;

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Oversee Network Operations engineering and monitoring
  • Lead engineering support proactively to identify current/future needs, and oversee collaborations between Operations & Engineering to develop/implement effective solutions
  • Drive innovation through the implementation of new technology, identification of internal synergies, and overall leadership
  • Develop disaster recovery and business continuity contingencies for Network Operations and support
  • Serve as key contact with outside vendors to ensure ION’s strategic and financial goals are achieved while maintaining positive relationships; ensure efficient and effective technical and production operations activities through continuous process improvement
  • Coordinate hardware and software upgrades and their impact on workflow
  • Partner with Marketing, Commercial and Legal on standard and practices

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • 10+ years of television operations management experience
  • 8+ years of managerial experience, to include performance management, career management and employee relations; solid experience overseeing (indirect reporting relationships) teams consisting of 20+ regular full-time staff
  • Understanding of video system flows, encoding, digital storage systems, automation systems, graphic systems, editing systems, signal flows, video and audio test equipment, technical specifications for video and audio in SDI, HD and ASI; media management and satellite transmission and distribution
  • Knowledge of television production, editing, engineering, satellite transmission and distribution systems required
  • Solid ability to balance production needs with operational capabilities, and to provide solutions that address and balance both wherever applicable
  • Solid experience with process improvement and identifying and leading operational changes for a TV network’s broadcast operations and production facilities
