WEST PALM BEACH, December 9, 2014 -- ION Television, a leading general entertainment network, announced a January 4th launch for their new child-friendly destination, ‘Qubo Kids Corner.’ The new three-hour programming block on Sunday mornings features three E/I (“educational and informational”) series, Dive Olly Dive, Harry and His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs and Doki, airing back-to-back from 9 AM-12 PM ET/PT providing entertaining content that promotes literacy, reinforces important values and conveys relatable life lessons. The announcement was made today by Brandon Burgess, Chairman and CEO, ION Media Networks.

The new line-up from Qubo, a channel that the FCC touted as the “Gold Standard in Children’s Television,” underscores ION's commitment to providing children and their caregivers with a safe haven where the primary goal is to engage the coveted children’s audience. The move to Sundays (Qubo programming block previously aired on Friday mornings) was based, in part, to compelling and recent Nielsen data revealing that viewing by kids 2-11 is significantly higher on Sundays (64%) with over eight million kids watching TV from 9 AM-12 PM ET/PT.

“ION has a long-standing commitment to children with quality entertainment in a safe environment,” said Burgess. “Qubo’s programming is trusted by families to provide content whose primary objective is to deliver educational messaging and positive values and extends to our strict advertising guidelines, which we will continue to enforce during this block.”

ION Television is supporting the ‘Qubo Kids Corner’ with a dedicated media buy featuring cross-channel promotion and a digital spend that includes banner webpage takeovers and video.

The ‘Qubo Kids Corner’ Features the Following Series:

Harry and his Bucket Full of Dinosaurs – 9-10 AM ET/PT; (2x) 30-Minute Episodes
Based on the series of children’s books from Ian Whybrow & Adrian Reynolds, this series follows the adventures of a little boy with a vivid imagination and his friends; six real, live dinosaurs. The stories represent real-life situations preschoolers experience and helps teach problem solving.

Doki – 10-11 AM ET/PT; (2x) 30-Minute Episodes
Follow Doki and his friends as they travel all over the planet to discover the wonders of the world. He’s a born explorer like his friends Oto, Mundi, Fico, Gabi and Anabella. Together they are “Team Doki,” and anything can spark an expedition!  The series inspires kids to ask questions and explore and promotes excitement about geography.

Dive Olly Dive – 11 AM-12 PM ET/PT; (2x) 30-Minute Episodes
Follow the adventures of Olly, a young submarine-in-training, and his best friend Beth. Whether carrying out a research assignment for Diver Doug, or playing in spectacular Lava Rock Park, there’s never a dull moment in Olly’s world. The show inspires kids to ask questions and explore and teaches kids about the marine world.
